Chapter 15 – Reluctance "I'm sorry, it feels like it's because of me that you have to stay after school." It was Chen Hang's voice that pulled her out of her thoughts. He pulled out the stool next to her desk and sat down. He was holding two cartons of Vita Lemon Tea in his hands. Luo Zhuowei probably guessed what Chen Hang meant, but she just waited silently for Chen Hang to put one of the carton of juice on her table. Then she turned to look at him with a smile and asked, "So this is an apology?" "A small tribute~" Hearing the joking meaning in her words, Chen Hang replied with a smile, taking out his paper and deliberately saying these words in a coquettish voice. Luo Zhuowei laughed, then realized that she had gone too far and quickly picked up the text book that the teacher had given her, and said softly, "Then I'll start." In fact, being alone with each other made her a little nervous, not to mention that Chen Hang was sitting so close to her. She really hoped that no one would hear that her voice was actually trembling: "Welcome to our program. I'm Jenny Jackson. The weather here in Juárez has become unbearable..." It didn't take much time to listen to the 15 short conversations. Besides, Chen Hang wasn't the kind of person who had trouble with foreign languages because his English was terrible. So it took about 20 minutes for the two of them to pack up and go home. Luo Zhuowei absentmindedly put the books she would use that evening into her schoolbag, and hesitated about how to ask Chen Hang if he was going the same way as her. She really couldn't learn to be as bold and enthusiastic as those girls who could ask such questions directly, or even have the courage to ask the other party to take them home. The only sound she could hear was the sound of herself packing her schoolbag. Luo Zhuowei couldn't help but look up at the seat in front of her. Chen Hang was leaning on the table playing with his mobile phone, with his schoolbag slung over one shoulder. He seemed to be replying to some message - boys always have less stuff than girls, so it seemed that he had already packed everything and was waiting for her. "Have you packed up?" Noticing Luo Zhuowei's gaze, Chen Hang put down his phone and looked at her. After thinking for a moment, he said to her, "If you don't mind, let's go together." Is she too lucky today? Luo Zhuowei nodded. She didn't notice that she had uncosciously smiled: "Yeah." By the time the two people walked out of the school gate, the sky had darkened and the street lights were lighting up one by one. They were chatting leisurely. Luo Zhuowei noticed that Chen Hang, who was originally walking side by side with her, was a step behind her. She just asked what happened when she saw Chen Hang whispering something while walking to the other side of her very naturally and giving her the space on the inside of the sidewalk. "What's wrong?" Chen Hang noticed Luo Zhuowei's brief pause and was unaware that his behavior was the cause of her pause. He was also stunned and asked uncertainly, "Are you feeling uncomfortable? Is your schoolbag too heavy?" "No." Luo Zhuowei came back to her senses and shook her head, pushing the hair that fell on her cheek behind her ear, "I was just suddenly in a daze just now." "Hahaha, does Luo Zhuowei also have moments like this?" Chen Hang didn't notice her lie. Instead, he was amused by this unexpected answer. His slightly droopy eyes and side fangs made him look like a non-aggressive dog when he smiled like this, and a fluffy one at that. Luo Zhuowei also laughed. Come to think of it, had she ever laughed so often before? As she was thinking this, she found that she had reached a fork in the road: the bus stop was on the left side of the intersection, and she only needed to take 5 stops to get home. Why does she feel like the journey was so short? A small sense of loss was already rising in her heart, barely audible, but it was real. However, Luo Zhuowei's face was still gentle as usual, without much emotion. She slowed down her pace, raised her head and looked at Chen Hang, wanting to ask him if they should go their separate ways next. Chen Hang pointed to the bus stop and asked, "Are you taking the bus?" Luo Zhuowei hesitated: "...Yes." Did he also take the same bus? But why does it seem that I have never met Chen Hang on this road to school? While she was thinking about these two questions, she had already followed Chen Hang to the bus stop. Chen Hang stood in front of the bus sign, carefully scanning it from beginning to end, first glanced at the direction that the bus was coming from, then looked at her: "Luo Zhuowei, which bus are you taking?" "A79." She responded reflexively, and the sentence she had spent a long time thinking about in her mind followed closely, "Then..." Which route do you usually take? "Then your bus is here." She spoke too quietly and Chen Hang, who didn't hear her, interrupted her. The bus has stopped in front of us: "...Yeah." The bus door opened and she had already stepped into the bus with her left leg. The resentment and loss in her heart suddenly swelled. She didn't know where she got the courage from, but she turned around and looked at Chen Hang. "?" Chen Hang was a little surprised when she looked back, but he didn't think about it in any other way. He thought that Luo Zhuowei just wanted to politely say goodbye. So, he smiled and waved his hand: "Bye." "Chen Hang." She said. Looking into the other person's eyes, Luo Zhuowei tightened her grip on the straps of her schoolbag: "...See you tomorrow." The bus door closed. The courage she just had was instantly gone, and her heart was still pounding, Luo Zhuowei subconsciously grasped the handrail and looked out the window. She saw Chen Hang turn around and left after confirming that she was in the bus, following the path they had just taken. She closed her eyes: it turned out that he was taking her home. Moreover, he sent her there in a very clever and timely manner. He neither said "I'll take you home" nor asked abruptly "Where is your home?". He just sent her to the bus stop in silence, as if it was just on his way. The driver of A79 was a middle-aged man who was about to retire. He recognized Luo Zhuowei, who had been taking the bus at a fixed time for the past year and a half. Seeing her looking out the window silently, he asked with a smile: "You are so reluctant to leave, did your boyfriend take you back?" Luo Zhuowei curled her lips without any emotion: "You misunderstood." She is reluctant to leave. But he isn’t her boyfriend.
